I know... I know...

I got sooo carried away this morning with the camera.... But I had so much fun... My inner " photographer" took over, and I found myself working for National Geographic, trying to get the best pic... Thank God for the digital camera.... I had sooo much fun doing this... Kind of forgot about "stuff" for a while, which is ALWAYS a good thing....

Good day... from Small Wonders

My Girl Roo

So... the latest add to the fam, here is Roo.  Her registered name is Pretty Dun Juice and she is 4 years old.
 I've had her for a little over a week, and she has been nothing short of amazing.   I've ridden her about five times now, and have showed her once.  This mare is so classy it is crazy.  And talk about quiet.  I cannot believe she is only four.  She acts like she is twelve.  I have yet to see her spook.  And most importantly, she was so calm when I brought her into the show pen. I walked her right up to centre arena, and she just stood there, as she's suppose to!!  That was the highlight of my day.  I cannot believe the luck I've had with all my horses.  Every single one of them, has been nothing short of amazing.  And yes, I do miss Maya, but knowing that she will be outside, being a mamma every year, and doing nothing but eating and hanging out, is such a comfort to me.  This mare deserves the very best.
So... only two more treatments for me, and then radiation to begin shortly after that.  I am hoping that the worst of it will be over after the treatments, and I can concentrate on my ponies, and planning my trip to Spain in the fall.  I am loving life... such as it is, and continue to recognize how fortunate I am.

One month old today!

It's taken me a while, but I've finally come up with a name for this colt, who turned one month old today.  I've decided to name him "Smokin Prince Hamlet", with "Hamlet" being his barn name.  Reasons behind this name?  Well, I think he is quite charming, and Hamlet was definitely a charming prince so... Plus it's my favourite of Shakespear's plays.  He is sooooo cute, but is quite a hand full.  Very inquisitive, but guarded as well.  Will approach you, but only if he has  built some trust with you.  I have  integrated him and his mom with all of my other horses (except for my new mare), and everyone is getting along quite nicely.  Bella has even taken on the role of "Auntie", in that she has kind of taken over the role of second in command.  She totally cares for this colt, and sees to it that he is not harmed in anyway.  (I think this is her way of telling me that she wants to be a mama soon!)

Roo, (my new mare) is trying to settle in.  Tough though it is, she is doing fine, and I hope to have her with the other horses soon.  (More to follow)

Pretty Dun Juice The New Addition

I am so happy, and grateful, and honored  to own such a wonderful creature as this mare.  I just brought her home today, so I'm rather emotional.  She's had a lot to deal with in the last week, transitioning from her home in Chicago. Not to mention the fact that I had to trade Maya, in order to get her.  Yes, it was hard to do this, and yes I miss her tremendously.  But the fact that I know she will be well taken care of allows me to sleep at night.  The people that have bought her is going to use her as a brood mare (which means she will make babies for the rest of her life).    This actually is a pretty good life for a horse.  She will NEVER be in a stall, and she will spend her days eating, and socializing with other mama's and baby's.  Not a bad life at all!!!

Visitors galore

It must be a spring thing. A plethora of visitors to the farm. Geese,  ducks, blue heron, wild turkeys, deer, and snapping turtles. This one here came to Small Wonders last year,  and has made his way back!  Here Mila investigates.....
